Collage Obsession: Roots

Everything and everybody has some kind of roots, either real (like plants and trees have) or imaginary (like when we feel that our roots are in a certain place). This week I challenge you to make a piece of collage art showing your idea of roots. You can use one of these images or any other image you like. (The Bitter Root flower image comes from National Geographic Magazine via Wikisource, the tree image is a vignette from an old Finnish book.) You can make digital art or a manually created collage or a three dimensional piece - anything goes. My own version of the theme will be on my blog tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Please post an image of your art piece on your blog or other site, and leave a link to your work in our "comments" section. Instructions on how to leave a link to your work are located in the right sidebar. Just click on the words, "How to add your link in comment".

I'm really interested to see your ideas of 'roots' - I'm sure there are so many ways to think about this word. Thank you for participating in the challenge!

Here's my "roots" digital collage. I started with the idea of a fairly straightforward heritage-type collage, but the images took on a deeper meaning for me as I progressed. Very interesting how that happens sometimes...
