Music

I love listening to music everyday. Really. Everyday! Music has the power to lift us up, energize us or make us cry. This week’s challenge is to create something that is inspired by music. Two images are provided below, but you do not have to use them. They can be a starting point if you like. Just have fun!

Musical Cherub by Rosso Fiorentino (1521):

By The Light of the Silvery Moon cover (song published 1909):

Here are the guidelines for the challenge:
  • You can use one or more of the images. It’s okay to use a portion of the image, or the entire image.
  • It is okay not to use the images, instead, please express the theme of music in some way…  (Perhaps reflect on your favorite tune and how it makes you feel, etc..)
  • Your creation can be silly, serious or anything inbetween!
  • The word “music” does not have to show up in your creation.
Please post your artwork on your blog or website, and leave a link to it in our “comments” section. (Instructions on how to leave a link to your work are in the right hand column under “How to Participate.” Just click on the words: “How to add a link in comment”)

On your mark, get set, … GO! Let’s have a good time. Thank you for playing in advance!

The Old Dark House Challenge by Rick

Hello Artists!!

Hard to believe it's my turn again---and haven't ALL the various challenges been interesting to do and interpret!

I know I've had fun and looked foreward to each new weekly challenge.

If you enjoy COLLAGE OBSESSION encourage your friends and fellow artists and designers to get involved and join in-its a real blessing to get the comments and encouragement from your fellow artists each week.

I'm so glad Kirsi decided to go with this format and let some of us help her keep Collage Obsession alive and vibrant.

We have been doing figurals and I had another image prepped which I will save for next time and offer instead this creepy old dark house-sitting forgotten on some lonely street...

I have sandwiched in a stormy sky but of you look carefully you could easily remove that sky and change the feeling of the image to suit whatever you decided to do with it.

Collage is a little like OPERA you can have lots of things going on that tell a story all at the same time-so tell a story about this house or what happened in it-was a great love lost and the house was abandoned or is the house waiting like a spider for new victims? So MANY possibilities.

I also stripped the colour and left you with a black and white base to start from so you can add colour or stay in the realms of GREY.

The challenge this week is to TELL A STORY-use this image (with our without the stormy sky) and either in black and white OR colour-up to you.

No "word" from me thats up to you-it's like writing a play or staging a ballet I have designed the backdrop now YOU must people the stage...have fun!

Spring

Hi, it´s my turn again, but I must tell first, how much I´ve enjoyed of those previous challenges. So great that now we have here much more variety and inspiration, thanks for the awesome new contributors. Unfortunately I haven´t had time yet to participate to all those fascinating new challenges, but as you know, we don´t have here any strict deadlines. So it´s possible to participate also to older challenges and I will do that, for sure, as soon as I have time and inspiration.

But now, let´s get to the new challenge. When I was looking for new contributors, I got so many eager responses that unfortunately I couldn't choose everyone. But I promised to give a chance also for the featuring contributors.

This new challenge is from Lonnie: and here is how it goes:

Use one of these beautiful images, or both. The inspirational word is spring.

And the challenge is open, as usual, for all kinds of art. Let your imagination flow and give us a fresh spring breeze.

I can’t wait to see your creations!

PS. I=m always open for any new ideas, so if you have any suggestions for the new challenges, send me email to itkupillishop [at] gmail.com.

Collage Obsession #37: Transform

Transform.
Welcome to my first challenge for the Collage Obsession team.
I offer you the word 'Transform'... this image is my interpretation.
As tattoos can ‘transform’ a person’s image.. as a chameleon is transformed into camouflage… the challenge? ‘Transform’ anything into something else. The Challenge is open to all kinds of art: digital, ATC’s, cards, journals, etc. There are no rules, let your imagination take you places. Create and have fun.
Thanks for taking part. Glenys.
