I have a confession: I thought Casanova was just a legend. I didn’t know he was a real person until recently. I’m among friends, so I can admit that, right? LOL. Well, Giacomo Girolamo Casanova’s birthday just passed on Saturday. If he were alive today, he would be 286 years old!

Oh, what a character he was! In his 73 years on Earth, he was many things: poet, lover, spy, gambler, and author --- just to name a few... To give you a feel for his personality, here is a quote from his memoir, History of My Life (vol.1, pg. 31, Johns Hopkins edition):
Cultivating whatever gave pleasure to my senses was always the chief business of my life; I have never found any occupation more important. Feeling that I was born for the sex opposite to mine, I have always loved it and done all I could to make myself loved by it… As for women, I have always found that the one I was in love with smelled good, and the more copious her sweat the sweeter I found it.
So, here are the guidelines for this week’s challenge:
- It is okay to use a portion of the image, or the entire image in your art.
- It is okay not to use the image, instead, please express one or more themes associated with Casanova: scandal, seduction, and/or ladies’ man.
- The words/themes do not have to show in your artwork.
- Your creation can be silly, serious, or anything inbetween!
Please post your artwork on your blog or website, and leave a link to it in our “comments” section. (Instructions on how to leave a link to your work are in the right hand column under “How to Participate.” Just click on the words: “How to add a link in comment”)
I can't wait to see what you create! Thank you in advance for participating!
