Rick's Challenge-SURREALISM with a twist

OK all my friends, wonderful artists and compatriots here is my challenge to you this week:

Surrealism

I havnt published any image for you to use I have published MY IMAGE for the challange as an example!

I want you to create a surreal place BUT you must use at least ONE of your previous COlLAGE OBSESSION creations in total somehow in your surreal world.

As you can see in my surreal world I have envisioned an art gallery and two of my recent collages are on the walls-you can do something similar but BETTER figure out a new and unique way to use one of your pieces (or more) to create a new world of bizarre beauty

My image will also be on my BLOG and in my gallery at carbonmade...

Then have this world tell a story or send a message-above all have fun and I hope this challenge stretches your imagination

Swans

Swans appear in so many legends and myths and fairy tales that certainly everyone has some kind of an idea of these magnificient birds. This week I give you three different images of swans, which you can use as a starting point or a prompt for your artwork.

The first image is of the species Cygnus cygnus, which lives wild in my home country Finland. The image is from the book "Birds in colour" and painted by K.A. Tinggaard.

The second image is a detail from a medieval French frontispiece miniature from the manuscript of a poem by Guillaume Crétin, c. 1530-40.

This last image is a sign showing the way to the Swan Pond in the park forest which is situated near my home in my home town Hämeenlinna, in Finland. In the pond there live two swans, and I often take my morning walk to the pond to greet them.

You can use any of these images in your artwork, or if you want, you can use any other images of swans just as well. Please post your artwork on your blog or website, and leave a link to it in our “comments” section. (Instructions on how to leave a link to your work are in the right hand column under “How to Participate.” Just click on the words: “How to add a link in comment”.)

I'm looking forward to seeing all your wonderful artworks. My own piece will be posted on my blog tomorrow. Have fun creating!

Mothers & Other Loves

Today is “Mother’s Day” in the United States. A day full of visits, phone calls, brunches, and other ways to show our mothers that we care. In essence, today is a celebration of love & caring. In honor of those values, please create artwork celebrating someone that you love (i.e. your mother, sister, other relative, friend, musician, artist, etc…).

You may also choose to create something based on Charity, by William Bouguereau:

Please post your artwork on your blog or website, and leave a link to it in our “comments” section. (Instructions on how to leave a link to your work are in the right hand column under “How to Participate.” Just click on the words: “How to add a link in comment”.)

Whatever you are inspired to create, I can’t wait to see it. Happy Mother's Day!

Strange Little People

This is another of those images which I have used innumerable times usually as zombie or monster kids simply because it manipulates so well.

I am including 2 versions-the top one is smaller but crisper-the one below is more like a bitmap.

I would love to see what kind of strangeness all of you can come up with using the "kids"...

By the way I thought I would also share a great site with you called CARBONMADE

They offer a very simple online portfolio and the small version is FREE-I have the extended version which is $12.00 a month.

One can divide the space up into various projects so I have one area strictly for my Collage Obsession collages.

It's a nice place to send people because they don't have to wade through you blog to find images or artwork you have done-mine is http://rickstdennis.carbonmade.com/.

I only mention this because it is FREE and so easy to use.

Have fun with the little nippers...
