I am so happy today: the sun is shining! We had a lot of new snow only last week, and it felt like the spring is never coming. But now the wonderful sun is warming the air and melting the snow away.
This is why I'm challenging you to make a piece of art with the sun in it - in one form or another. The sun can be warm and beautiful and lovely, but it can also be cruel and frightening - it can burn your skin and dry the land. The sun has a lot of power - it is the thing that makes life on Earth possible. For this reason it has also been worshiped as a god in many religions.
The inspiration images below are: an Egyptian carving showing pharaoh Akhenaten with the divine sun disc Aten, a tarot card "Sun", and a half orange which I have used in my own collage "Aurinko" ("sun" in Finnish). You can use these images in your piece, or you can use any other images you like.
You can make your piece just the way you want: digital or manual, 2D or 3D, any technique and material is welcome. All you have to do, after creating your piece, is to post your art on your blog or other site. Next, leave a link to your work using our link feature below, or by adding a comment with a link to your site in our "comments" section. Have fun!
